With just a few easy changes you can SUPERCHARGE YOUR CLASS online preteens and teenagers engaged and busy learning Algebra AT Home!   During the last 3 years, I have slowly converted my class to meet the needs of our Digital Age Learners.  Engagement is never an issue!  These 4 tools are essential and must-have in my Algebra Class.   The best thing about these tools is that they are easy to use and will be perfect for at-home learning!

1st-Annotate.net - integrates a Mobile Interactive Whiteboard, Screen Mirroring, Formative Assessments, and Collaboration on your tablet.

As the responsibility of learning it turned over to my students, I find that learning is taking place in all areas of my room.  Often I need to send out information to my students but my desks are not all facing the front of the room.   At the beginning of class, students log into annotate.net with their Chromebooks and in an instant, I can have my interactive whiteboard screencast to their chrome book!  I can embed assessments in my presentation.   Livestreaming allows students to connect at home and have realtime audio.

2nd- Kami is an annotation app for schools.  The free version allows document annotation on google docs and slides.

->With the help of my touchscreen Chromebook, the document annotation feature of Kami allows me to pull up my Algebra Worksheets and make an answer key digitally and save to my google drive.   This app works great with google slides.

->The best feature is the interactive whiteboard!   As an old school Interwrite Tablet gal, I realized quickly that I had to have some type of interactive whiteboard at my new school.   My 10-year-old tablet just didn´t want to interact with the school paid version of  Smart Notebook.    Without a solution, I would be glued to the front of the room forever!   I was able to connect to Kami immediately and ready to start teaching!    The Oooo´s and Aaaa´s of students who never had Interwrite Tablets in their classrooms were priceless.

3rd- Screencastify

Combine the features of Kami and Screencasify and you have the perfect duo!

Teachers can quickly combine the abilities of Kami to the powers of Screencasify and make my math videos.  No use to re-invent the wheel!  You can simply use your old google slide presentations and give them new life.  By creating my own math videos on  Screencasify and the comments below are things of the PAST:  ¨Wait, I am not done COPYING.¨   ¨You are moving to FAST!¨  ¨I was out yesterday and I do NOT understand!  Best off all the 15 minutes of prep time leaves me with a video that is available for years to come!

4th-  Edpuzzle-This program allows teachers to make any video an interactive lesson to track students' mastery and comprehension.

->Edpuzzle can be used to teach new concepts and reinforce previously taught skills.  Often I will upload a quick video that I have created on screencastify with 1-2 problems worked.  One of my first questions will be ¨Based on your notes, what are the 3 Steps in solving this type of problem.¨

->My personal favorite thing to do with Edpuzzle is to use it to quiz  Algebra students.   If I pick my videos carefully then I can embed questions like what is the first step or what is the solution prior to the answer being given on the video.  Once the students answer the question, then the video will proceed to give the right answer and explanation.
