With just a few easy changes you can SUPERCHARGE YOUR CLASS online preteens and teenagers engaged and busy learning Algebra AT Home!   During the last 3 years, I have slowly converted my class to meet the needs of our Digital Age Learners.  Engagement is never an issue!  These 4 tools are essential and must-have in my Algebra Class.   The best thing about these tools is that they are easy to use and will be perfect for at-home learning! 1st-Annotate.net -  integrates a Mobile Interactive Whiteboard, Screen Mirroring, Formative Assessments, and Collaboration on your tablet.  As the responsibility of learning it turned over to my students, I find that learning is taking place in all areas of my room.  Often I need to send out information to my students but my desks are not all facing the front of the room.   At the beginning of class, students log into annotate.net with their Chromebooks and in an instant, I can have my interactive whiteboard screencast to their chrome book!  I c

Teachers have found that Google Keep is perfect for almost EVERYTHING!   We use it to make our to-do list, our grocery list and even to keep snapshots of student work.  However, the one thing we forget to do is put this powerful tool that we all love in the hands of our students!  We have all spent hours and hours with that struggling student creating an interactive note book.  And then the unthinkable happens.  You guessed it, the notebook is missing in action!  It was taken home and will never be seen again.  How about just using Google Keep to store those valuable notes?  It gets even better............you can even share your notes with a student who is absent or who can't read their own handwriting!    The end of the year is fast approaching.  Give Keep a try.  Have the students create their own study notes and add to Google Keep.   It only takes a few days to get them in the habit of taking a picture of what they need to remember!   Before long they will be saying t

Wow---Book Creator  is of those online tools that has drastically changed my teaching.  This is an easy to use tool that allows teachers and students to collaborate to produce digital books.      My goal has always been for my students to create a resource that he or she could take with them and benefit for years to come.   However, in reality it didn´t matter how fancy or nice our interactive notebooks were they still didn´t keep up with them for the next year.  They definitely didn´t have a clue where their Interactive Algebra Notebooks were by their junior year! I have just started by Book Creator Journey with my students and they love it!  We are saving their published links in Google Keep so that they can always refer back to them or just show them off !                           Square Roots  Example Square Root Operation Review So far we have created our own State Study Guides for Solving Equations and a Review of Radical Operations!  OTHER CREATIVE IDEAS:

Want to tackle those little things that continue to hold us back in algebra? Anyone who has taught math will know what I am talking about...things that students just need to memorize but find no reason to memorize! Students who struggle need this daily practice to help them recall important facts and rules.       Just a few examples:  Identify the slope in y= 4x - 8. Identify the following symbol  >   Use the distributive property 3(4x-8) to simplify What is 6 - (-3)? Response Validation in google forms can become your best friend. This feature will require students to get the correct answer before they can move to the next question. Daily Roll Calls are the perfect class to practice these building block skills.   By placing 4-5 of these basic skills questions in front of students daily, it will force them to bring the information to their working memory and gives the students who struggle with recall a much better chance at storing the information to
